Papaw’s Garden Supply: Helping The Next Generation To Grow With Nature.

Ambrosia Sweet Corn is a hybrid, sugary-enhanced variety with a beautiful, bicolor appearance and an even better taste. In Greek mythology, ambrosia was known as "the food of the gods." This sweet corn can reach a height of 6.5 feet and has ears that are 8 inches long and 2 inches in diameter. Cobs have a checkerboard appearance of white and yellow kernels. Ambrosia is an excellent variety for fresh eating, and a fresh pot of Ambrosia Sweet Corn won’t last long on the table. Once plants emerge, thin plants to 6–10 inches, depending on adequate irrigation. If drip irrigation is used, in-row spacing may be as close as 6″. If water is scarce, the wider in-row spacing will be necessary. Corn should be planted in a square plot with rows spaced 30-36′′ apart for pollination purposes. Planting a few long rows will result in poor germination and the absence of kernels on the cob.

How to Grow Your Ambrosia Sweet Corn:

  • Suggested Planting Depth: ½-1 inches in rows
  • Suggested Planting Seasons:   Spring, Early Summer
  • Suggested Final Plant Spacing:  10-12 inches apart
  • Suggested Planting Configuration: Single row block
  • Maintain a weed-free seed bed in full sun and with adequate moisture
  • Seeds are treated so handle seed with proper PPE
