Papaw’s Garden Supply: Helping The Next Generation To Grow With Nature.

Scientific name:  Daucus carota var. sativus Tendersweet

Tendersweet Carrot Seeds are an open-pollinated, non-GMO variety. The uniform, deep orange-red roots are smooth-skinned, fine-grained, and nearly coreless, and they grow 7 inches of tapered roots, often longer. The gorgeous color stays during cooking and freezing; this is an excellent all-around carrot for cooking, canning, pickling, baking, and juicing. Tendersweet carrots are known for their sweetness and flavor, year after year. Tendersweet carrot seeds can be grown in the spring, but they are sweeter if grown in late summer and harvested after a frost. Thin aggressively after germination for larger carrots.

How to Grow Your Tendersweet Heirloom Carrot Seeds:

  • Suggested Direct Seeding Planting Depth: Sow to ½ -1 inch
  • Suggested Planting Seasons:  Spring or Late Summer
  • Suggested Final Plant Spacing: 3 inches apart
  • Suggested Planting Configuration: Single Row or Double Wide row block solid seeded
  • Maintain a weed-free mulched plant bed in Full sun and with adequate moisture.
