Papaw’s Garden Supply: Helping The Next Generation To Grow With   Nature.

The "Purple Snap Bean" or "Queen Bean" variety has 12 -14" bushes that are strong, compact, and upright, producing many 5- to 7 1/2-inch pods that are a lovely deep, glossy purple. The Purple Queen Bush Bean is known for its tender texture and rich taste. If picked young, the colorful fresh raw pods are good for eating in salads or minced into sandwich spreads for extra crunch. They taste great and also turn a brilliant dark green when cooked, and kids think they are magic beans!  This variety is very hardy and productive. Due to Purple Queen’s tolerance to cooler temperatures, it can be planted 2 weeks earlier than most varieties.

How to Grow Your Purple Queen Green Beans:

  • Suggested Planting Depth: ½-1 inches in rows or solid seeded
  • Suggested Planting Seasons:   Spring, Summer, Fall
  • Suggested Final Plant Spacing:  2-4 inches apart
  • Suggested Planting Configuration: Single row or solid seeded wide row block
  • Maintain a weed-free seed bed in full sun and with adequate moisture
  • Seeds are treated so handle seed with proper PPE
