Papaw’s Garden Supply: Helping The Next Generation To Grow With Nature.

The Golden Bantam is an heirloom sweet corn that is a fast-maturing golden yellow variety. The 12-row version of this variety is an old-time favorite chosen for its tenderness, sweet flavor, and quick maturity. This variety is an improved version of the old standard yellow sweet corn. Although some like the smaller ears (typically 6 inches long) of the original Golden Bantam, others like larger ears. Instead of 8 rows, this variety has 10-14 rows on each ear. An early maincrop variety is a long-time standard for home gardeners and market growers. The Golden Bantam Sweet Corn is ideal for freezing and fresh "corn on the cob" eating. This variety is untreated; germination is best when soil temperatures are 50 F or higher.

How to Grow Your Golden Bantam Untreated Heirloom Sweet Corn:

  • Suggested Planting Depth: ½-1 inches in rows
  • Suggested Planting Seasons:   Spring, Early Summer
  • Suggested Final Plant Spacing:  10-12 inches apart
  • Suggested Planting Configuration: Single row block
  • Maintain a weed-free seed bed in full sun and with adequate moisture
