Papaw’s Garden Supply: Helping The Next Generation To Grow With Nature.

The purple pod pole bean produces a heavy yield of beautiful, deep purple bean pods that are 5′′ to 7′′ long and about 1/2′′ thick. They are flavorful, high quality, meaty, and stringless. The purple pole beans are borne on sturdy, purple-tinged vines that climb vigorously to 8 feet tall. Tender, crispy garden beans are an easy and reliable crop to grow, but don't plant seeds too early, as cold conditions prevent good germination. If the first sowing comes up unevenly, replant immediately; new seedlings will catch up quickly. Rabbits are often attracted to young bean seedlings, so observe and protect with poultry fencing.  Avoid cultivating plants or picking pods when plants are wet.

How to Grow Your Purple Podded Pole Beans:

  • Suggested Planting Depth: ½-1 inches in rows or solid seeded
  • Suggested Planting Seasons:   Spring, Summer, Fall
  • Suggested Final Plant Spacing:  4 inches apart
  • Suggested Planting Configuration: Single row or solid seeded wide row block
  • Maintain a weed-free seed bed in full sun and with adequate moisture
